Samsung adds one of the best features of the iPhone to your Galaxy phone

Samsung adds one of the best features of the iPhone to your Galaxy phone.

Samsung is now showing off features of its One UI 8.5 user interface that it hasn't talked about before. Some are small changes, while others are big new features that have been added to the Galaxy phone. The premium option we're showing off today is a great example. The South Korean company copied it directly from Apple and made it better so it would work better with other devices. Maybe a little late? Yes, but it's finally here.

What is this feature? Thanks to the One UI 8.5 user interface, Galaxy phones can now connect to a Windows or macOS computer to use their cameras as webcams. Yes, it's the same feature that iPhones and Macs introduced years ago to improve video call quality, and while it's also available on Android via third-party apps, Samsung is now adding it as a core functionality.

Actually, it's incredibly simple: just connect your Galaxy phone to a Windows or Mac computer using a cable, then select the option to use it as a webcam. One UI 8.5 will do everything necessary for your computer to recognize your phone's sensors as a webcam, allowing you to make high-quality video calls.

Samsung has gone even further, allowing Galaxy phones with One UI 8.5 to choose their preferred camera (ultra-wide lens, main lens, telephoto lens, or front camera), enabling you to use any available focal length during video calls.

Furthermore, the system features a high-quality mode where the device transmits video at a higher resolution. While this mode isn't ideal for video calls due to the large file size, it's an excellent option for recording content from a computer or for holding meetings when the connection is excellent.

Which Galaxy phones can use the new webcam option?

This is the best part. Samsung didn't just select a few high-end devices from its lineup; the ability to connect the device to a computer and use it as a webcam will be available on all Galaxy phones updated to One UI 8.5. This feature will therefore be available on devices like the Galaxy S25 and S24, as well as many of the company's mid-range and low-end models that have been confirmed to receive the update.

Will the number be large? Samsung is expected to update more than 70 Galaxy phones to One UI 8.5, so there will be a significant number of devices that will benefit from this feature. To clarify, yes: the option is compatible with Windows PCs and all Apple devices. And you'll only need one cable.
