Mozilla knows it needs to work hard to keep up with Microsoft and Google. This is clearly evident in its flagship project, the Firefox web browser.
We're telling you this because the aforementioned company has just released a new version of this browser, as it does periodically. Specifically, we're referring to the new Firefox 149, which is currently available or will be available within the next few hours for installation on some computers.
Furthermore, we'll find some new and interesting features related to the application's functionality and interface. It's worth noting that although Mozilla has already released the new version, it may take a few hours for it to reach us automatically. However, we will always have the option to download it manually, as we will explain later.
New features in Mozilla Firefox 149
As is typical with these updates, in addition to the bug fixes included in the new version, the browser includes some great new features that you will love.
- Built-in VPN: This is perhaps one of the most notable new features in Firefox 149. It's a free, built-in Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. It offers 50GB of data per month for more private browsing. However, it's only available within the browser itself, and it's worth noting that it's not currently available in Arab countries. It's currently available in the US, France, Germany, and the UK, and we hope it will reach Arab countries soon.
- Greater control over AI features: As with previous versions of the program, this new update gives us greater control over the various AI features built into Firefox. Here we find several options that allow us to easily enable or disable smart features. In this way, Mozilla is trying to differentiate itself from its competitors, Chrome and Edge.
- Split-screen view: As you can imagine, and as we've discussed over the past few weeks, this new built-in feature allows us to view and open two websites in a single window simultaneously. - General performance improvements: Improved background process management has been added, resulting in less RAM consumption in inactive tabs. We also observed improved graphics performance and reduced resource consumption during video playback.
