OpenAI, the technology company led by Sam Altman, has just announced that the Windows desktop app for its chatbot, ChatGPT, is now available for free to all users, including those with a free account. The truth is that the ChatGPT app for Windows was officially launched in mid-October, but so far, it can only be used for Chatbot Plus, Enterprise, Team and Edu subscribers.

Yesterday, OpenAI published a post on, where it announced that the ChatGPT desktop app for Windows can now be downloaded completely free of charge from the Microsoft Store.

In the aforementioned post, OpenAI also confirms that you will be able to quickly open the ChatGPT desktop app without having to double-click on its icon, as you can run it comfortably using the "Alt+Space" shortcut.

When you do this, a window will appear on your desktop where you can chat with the chatbot, perform internet searches, upload files and photos to ask all kinds of questions, see your claims history and even start a new conversation.

So, if you have a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC and want to install the ChatGPT app on your computer, just access the link below, click on the "Download for Windows" button until the ChatGPT app store opens in the Microsoft Store, hit the Install option, run the downloaded .exe file and click on the install button to finish the process.

Once done, the ChatGPT app will open on your Windows computer and you can pin it to the taskbar on your desktop by right-clicking on its icon and clicking on the Pin option on the taskbar.
