Download and save this program because Microsoft will delete it permanently.
Following Paint 3D, Microsoft continues to gradually remove its tools from its Creative Suite, and now it is the turn of 3D Viewer, the application that allows users to explore 3D models in Windows 11.
According to the company, the 3D Viewer app will be removed from the Microsoft Store on July 1, 2026, meaning it will no longer be available for download or installation. However, those who have already installed it will be able to continue using it temporarily.
Microsoft recommends using third-party 3D software to view 3D designs in Windows 11. It is advisable to install 3D Viewer on your device before July 1st if you wish to keep the application.
In any case, it is very likely that a future operating system update will block the application, as happened previously with Windows Maps, which stopped working after its official discontinuation.
It's worth noting that the Visor 3D program was part of Microsoft's efforts to enter the 3D technology era, which began with the Windows 10 Creators Update and continued with the Fall Creators Update. During that period, the operating system integrated tools like Paint 3D and Remix 3D, as well as features for inserting 3D objects into File Explorer.
Although Paint 3D had practical applications and was well-received, the overall approach failed because many users couldn't adapt to the changes. Furthermore, replacing the classic Paint program with Paint 3D drew criticism on social media, ultimately leading Microsoft to backtrack.
In the case of Visor 3D, a recurring pattern appears at Microsoft: choosing a favorite product, integrating it into the system, and then abandoning it after a few years.
By removing Visor 3D, Microsoft is finally closing the chapters of the Creators Update era, leaving behind tools that were once part of its commitment to digital creators and artists.
