I'm completely blown away by Samsung's new Gemini feature... it's the best thing that's ever happened to my phone.
Samsung phones have recently added a highly useful AI feature that will significantly improve your daily life. The South Korean company has once again partnered with Gemini to incorporate AI technology into another system application, specifically the Samsung Gallery, which stores all of your photos and videos. The reason for this is the feature's brilliance: AI now allows you to search for anything you want with incredible precision.
I had the opportunity to use this feature myself, and it is truly fantastic. Simply open the apps associated with Gemini, activate the Samsung Gallery, and you're ready to go. You can now ask your device's AI assistant questions about your content, which will search through all of your photos and return results.
I can assure you that it works perfectly. So what's the point?t? It's useful when you need to locate one or more old photos in your Samsung phone's gallery. The typical method is to remember the date, scroll down until you find the approximate month, and then search through thousands of photos to find the one you're looking for.
This is no longer true now that the Gemini app has been integrated into the photo gallery. You can now use the AI on your Samsung phone to search for a specific image. And you can be as specific as you want: "Find the photo I took of the cashew antelope while I was in the forest in 2021."
Next, the Gemini app will consider all your requests and begin searching your photo gallery, taking into account the image's location and content. For example, if you say, "I want to see pictures of my daughter learning to ride a bike," the AI will automatically display those images.
Best of all, this new feature lets you share these found images with other apps. After finding an image, you can ask the app to send it to your dad via WhatsApp, for example. While this feature sounds great in theory, it's not always practical. I tested it in several instances, and the system worked perfectly.
Which Samsung phones have the new AI-powered photo gallery feature?
This is the crux of the matter. I was able to test it on a Galaxy S26 Ultra running One UI 8.5, which appears to be the only version of Samsung's software that supports this feature. In fact, it's only available in the stable version; Galaxy S25 users with access to the beta version cannot activate this option through Gemini.
Therefore, it appears to be exclusive to One UI 8.5, so you'll need to wait for Samsung to update your phone to this version and check for its availability on your device under "Connected Apps" in Gemini. It's very likely to be available, although there's also a possibility that Samsung might restrict this integration to high-end models like the Galaxy S25 or Galaxy Z Fold 7.
