According to experts at cybersecurity company Kaspersky, there are currently six dangerous VPN apps that pose a significant risk to mobile users. These apps may seem harmless at first glance, but they can seriously compromise the security of your personal data and even put your bank accounts at risk.
The company issued an urgent alert urging users to delete these apps to avoid leaking confidential information and other cyber attacks.
The number of fraudulent apps has been increasing alarmingly as cybercriminals exploit users’ interest in tools that promise improved security, such as VPNs. However, these malicious apps not only fail to protect privacy but also turn infected devices into proxy servers used to carry out illegal activities.
The consequences of installing these apps are serious, with the risk of cybercriminals obtaining sensitive data such as passwords, banking transaction records, and other personal details.
Kaspersky has identified six specific applications that you should remove immediately if they are present on your device:
- MaskVPN
- DewVPN
- PaladinVPN
- ProxyGate
- ShieldVPN
- ShineVPN

According to experts, the number of people affected by these fraudulent applications increased by 89% during the third quarter of 2024.
