ChatGPT replicates one of DeepSeek's best features in its o3-mini model
OpenAI has found a strong competitor with DeepSeek; the Chinese-origin AI is just over a month old and has already taken the market by storm. The company behind ChatGPT doesn’t want to give up the race to dominate AI and has announced new jobs.
DeepSeek integrates a feature known as a thought chain that makes it easier for programmers to create code. ChatGPT can’t compete with Chinese AI right now, but the O3-mini model will make a difference.
Following in the footsteps of DeepSeek, Sam Altman’s company has added new programming skills to ChatGPT. The thought chains detail the steps needed to generate the code in greater detail.
ChatGPT’s thought chains allow you to provide a more accurate answer. The chatbot will analyze and internally verify each stage of its thinking, which is one of the most criticized flaws since the first versions.
Not only will OpenAI's responses be more accurate, but ChatGPT will also make it easier to understand the concepts and techniques you used to arrive at a solution and will not just display the final result.
OpenAI’s o3-mini is the first model to get this DeepSeek-inspired feature. ChatGPT is able to reason more precisely and will show the process of getting the code step by step in the form of a “thought chain.”
The OpenAI chatbot puts an end to one of the most common criticisms: some of ChatGPT’s responses are unreliable. This feature can also be used as a learning tool, allowing you to identify potential errors in your code and better understand the answers.
This option is available to both free and paid users, but it won’t be as comprehensive as what DeepSeek-R1 offers. The Chinese AI generates a more structured summary of the logic it follows to generate its responses.
