Google Play Store update with new section. Finding apps will be easier with tools

Customizing your home screen with widgets has always been one of the highlights of Android. These little elements not only add a unique aesthetic touch but also provide practical functionality, allowing you to access up-to-date information from your favorite apps without having to open them. Google takes this into account and is therefore working on improving these types of options on a regular basis.

However, until now, finding apps that support smart devices can be a daunting task. Fortunately, Google has decided to simplify this process with a new update to Google Play, its popular store for the Android operating system.

Widgets aren’t just decorations for your home screen. Their real value lies in their ability to keep you visually connected to the apps you use on your Android desktop. Imagine being able to check the weather forecast, upcoming calendar appointments, or even the latest news from your social media feeds, all without having to open a single app. Not only does this save you time, it also ensures that these apps remain relevant to your daily life.

Despite its usefulness, many developers have faced difficulties in highlighting their smart gadget apps. Google realized this problem and decided to take a step forward to make this task easier for users and app creators alike.

Google recently announced that it will be rolling out a new section to the Google Play Store designed specifically to help users find apps that support widgets. The section, simply called “widgets,” will allow users to quickly identify apps that offer this functionality. The update will reportedly not only simplify the search process but will also improve the visibility of the work that goes into developing these types of widgets.

But that’s not all. Google is also launching a special space within the Google Play Store dedicated exclusively to apps that contain widgets. This hub will be organized by categories—such as productivity, entertainment, and more—allowing users to explore apps that fit their specific needs. This space will serve as a showcase for what widgets can do while also identifying apps that excel in the design and functionality of their creations.

For developers, this hub represents an opportunity to gain visibility and increase downloads for their apps. Those who have invested time and resources into creating useful and engaging tools now have a dedicated section to showcase their work.

These updates are now rolling out to the Google Play Store on Android devices, including phones, tablets, and foldables. However, there is one important limitation: These changes will not be available on the web version of the Google Play Store for desktop or laptop computers.
