He asked Microsoft for help to legally activate his Windows operating system and the company recommended he pirate it
A YouTuber didn't have to pay anything to unofficially activate Windows 10. He tried to do so legally, but Microsoft itself encouraged him to pirate it.
Activating Windows 10 can be a frustrating process, but what happened to programmer and content creator TroubleChute exceeded all expectations. After attempting to legally activate his copy, he encountered an unexpected obstacle: his key didn't work.
The situation, while frustrating, seemed resolvable with the help of Microsoft support. However, the response he received was unusual: They recommended using an unofficial method to activate his system, effectively suggesting he had been hacked.
Typically, in these cases, the support team would provide an official solution, such as verifying the key, purchasing a new one, or guiding the user through the validation process. However, this time, support decided to take an unconventional shortcut by hacking it.
TroubleChute documented a conversation in which a Microsoft technician, after several failed activation attempts, recommended an alternative method: using software that allows you to unlock Windows without an official license key.
In other words, they asked you to use a "crack" to avoid activation issues. The tech community reacted immediately, and the issue quickly spread. Given the impact of the incident, Bill Gates' company had to speak out publicly. In an official statement, they emphasized that the practice described by the programmer "goes against our policy" and stated that they are investigating the incident.
However, this response did not dispel the criticism of those who questioned how the company's support team could recommend such an illegal method.
