The iPhone version of Google Maps now resembles Apple Maps more. This is its new design

Google Maps just got a new design change for its iPhone app, a design change that Android users have been enjoying for some time now and which is now coming to iOS.

Google Maps on iPhone will get a new tablet-based design that will almost completely change the user experience once it rolls out to everyone.

This new design will cause the bottom panels of the application to have rounded corners compared to the current panels.

On the other hand, when we touch the places list and move our finger up, the map will remain visible at the top behind the status bar.

With this new design, you no longer close menus by pressing the back button on the left side of the search bar, but instead you have a new “x” in the right corner of the panel, next to the share shortcut.

That's not all; the user interface for prompts after pressing the floating action button has been revised.

Although the initial page for entering the destination you want to go to has not changed, once you enter the location, the top of the screen will only display the start and end location, and it will do so in a floating rectangle. With this, the transport mode selector moves to the bottom.

These changes may be familiar to you, as Google already implemented them in Google Maps last summer on Android, and as you can see, they're arriving with some delay to iPhone.

You should see the changes once you update the app, although they may roll out in stages.
