To safeguard your account, Microsoft is testing pop-up advertisements in Windows 11

When you logged into an email client, such as Gmail, you might have been alerted that you do not have a backup phone number or email address in case you ever need to recover your account.

Well, we'll receive a similar notification from Windows 11 for those who use a Microsoft account when logging into the operating system.

In a preview build of Windows 11, Microsoft is testing a pop-up notification to remind you to set up an alternate email address or backup phone number to protect your Microsoft account from anything that might happen.

Microsoft explains in a support document that these pop-ups will appear when it detects that the account does not have an associated email address or recovery phone number.

The company explains that "adding these account verifications will help you recover your Microsoft account if you forget your password or are locked out for any reason."

If you click on this notification, you will be redirected to your operating system's Settings app.

Although these types of notifications are useful, as they ultimately warn us of various security issues, they can also be annoying to some users who don't want to know anything about the recovery email or the phone number associated with it.

So it remains to be seen whether you will be able to disable these types of notifications like others.

In general, some notifications can be disabled by going to Settings, then System, selecting Notifications, and unchecking some options.

We'll see if these types of warnings to protect our Microsoft account will finally be included in a future stable release of the operating system.
