Updates will no longer be available for seven of Xiaomi's top-selling phones. Do not purchase them
Whether we like it or not, everyone eventually meets their end. As is currently the case with some of Xiaomi's best-selling smartphones in recent years, we are powerless to avoid it, even though it is best if it arrives as late as possible. The successful journey of phones such as the Redmi Note 11 is now coming to an end.
With at least seven of the brand's smartphones confirmed to stop receiving updates in April, this comes amid a new list of smartphones that will or will not receive new operating system versions. The Redmi 10A, Redmi Note 11S, and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G are among the models that have gained a lot of popularity recently and have sold well because they are reasonably priced. In a similar vein, the POCO F4 GT, a high-end phone primarily targeted at gamers, was likewise well received by consumers.
The full list of cell phones that are already out of date and will not be updated is as follows:
- POCO F4 GT
- Redmi K50 Gaming
- Redmi 10A
- Redmi Note 11S
- Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G
- Xiaomi 11i
- Xiaomi 11 HyperCharge
However, in the case of the POCO F4 GT and Redmi K50 Gaming, Xiaomi has stated that these phones will be the only ones on the list that will continue to receive HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 14. Following this latest update, they will no longer be officially supported without receiving any security patches or other software improvements, marking the end of their lifecycle in terms of official support from the company.
Now that these phones are reaching the end of their lifespan, those who still own them will have to consider whether it's worth continuing to use them or whether it's better to upgrade to a newer model. As mentioned earlier, one alternative is to use custom ROMs to extend the lifespan of the devices by delivering unofficial updates with system improvements.
