The smart assistant in your Samsung and Motorola phones will be called Perplexity
In fact, Perplexity is one of the most reputable AI-based search engines in the entire industry, and as we can see, it also tries to focus from the start on the devices we all use most in our daily lives, which are, of course, smartphones.
Not surprisingly, the San Francisco, California-based company also announced negotiations with smartphone giants to automatically install its assistant on premium smartphones from brands like Motorola, in an unprecedented agreement that Bloomberg believes is already signed and final.
In the same article, industry expert Mark Gurman claims that Perplexity isn't just negotiating with Motorola, but that the Americans also have plans for a major surprise, such as Samsung, with whom the Californian company is also said to be openly negotiating.
What's even more surprising is that Samsung already had Bixby as a smart assistant in addition to Google Assistant services, something many of us never understood, and even less understandable is the doubling of options now after Samsung and Google's recent close collaboration, even bringing 6 months of free Gemini Advanced features, Google's premium subscription, to its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S25.
We don't yet know if Samsung intends to also include Perplexity AI, nor whether the idea is to open up the choice of smart assistants on Galaxy phones and tablets with more options, keeping Gemini as the default but allowing the user to choose Perplexity or even other ChatGPTs.
We'll have to see all of this over time and with official announcements, which Motorola should be holding next week during the same launch event for the new Moto RAZR 60... Let's see what they have in store for us!
