Google does it once more. This crucial mode was eliminated from Google Maps
One of Google Maps' primary features, the driving mode powered by Google Assistant, may be being phased out.
With voice controls for music and navigation, as well as—most importantly—direct access to the conventional voice assistant, this mode provides a completely integrated user experience within the application.
But Google has gradually reduced this feature to a basic bottom bar with little functionality inside the app.
Additionally, 9to5google reports that an increasing number of features are now being removed from driving mode.
So much so that it appears that Google Maps and the main Google app no longer have driving mode.
The introduction of Google's new artificial intelligence, Gemini, into the system might be connected to this disappearance.
Even though Android Auto's features still fall short of the previous mode's level of integration, Gemini is gradually taking the place of Google Assistant.
All indications suggest that Google is discontinuing its Assistant-based driving mode, which would be a big blow to users of the feature in cars and infotainment systems that are incompatible.
