Google is making permanent changes to the Android lock screen. It now has a better design and shows more information

Google just revealed new features for Android, just one week before its Google I/O conference, where the company will detail its upcoming software. The company is also expected to provide information about new products, as well as reveal some of the new features of Gemini, the company's artificial intelligence model that is already well integrated into Android phones.

Google is also expected to showcase new features that will be available only on the company's Pixel phones. Although these phones also run Android, Google, like other manufacturers, reserves some exclusive features for its phones.

While we haven't heard any further news about Android 16, Google has hinted at a change that could soon be coming to its devices: a completely revamped lock screen.

Google has unveiled its new design language, called Material 3 Expressive, which aims to breathe new life into the design of the operating system.

One of the changes expected to be included is a new lock screen and an always-on display. This feature allows you to keep the clock and notifications always on the screen even when the device is in standby mode. This always-on display is displayed with the rest of the screen turned off and without any background.

However, in new images of this feature, which arrived via Android Police, you can see how this off-screen display displays a very dim version of the wallpaper. This means that information isn't just limited to a large black background but allows for a more attractive view. Similarly, the way notifications are displayed has also changed, with weather information appearing to the right of the clock and two separate sections for notifications.

These notifications can be displayed in a full format to provide more information to the user, or they can be grouped together to show icons for each app with a pending notification. As is the case every year, we'll have to wait for official confirmation from Google to expect these new features to appear on other Android phones. The company may just be testing, but it's very possible this is the final design for this feature.
