IPTV subscribers who watch football illegally may now be fined up to €5,000.
Italy has taken a very serious stance against piracy, specifically against pirated IPTV networks that offer illegal football matches, but now the spotlight is on users.
In Italy, fines have been introduced for end users, which could range from €154 to €5,000 for repeat offenders.
However, it has been reported that in Italy, subscribers are already being fined directly; specifically, around 2,282 pirate IPTV users have been fined in recent days!
As part of the cooperation between the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Financial Guard, and AGCOM, a cooperation protocol was established under which information about pirate IPTV users is exchanged between the parties. With this data, authorities can now directly fine users.
- Fines of up to €5,000 for IPTV pirates
At a press conference held a few hours ago, the Financial Supervisory Authority announced the first tangible results of its anti-piracy measures targeting users, noting that pirate IPTV users have been fined, with more fines to be issued in the coming days.
Responding to the announcement of the first fines for the participants, Claudio Lotito, author and supporter of the anti-piracy law and owner of Lazio, commented, "There are no more jokes."
Meanwhile, Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo warned that "anyone who commits a hacking crime in Italy cannot rest easy."
AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni also spoke, saying, "We have an excellent law, but it needs to be implemented. Implementing it means punishing those who commit piracy, as well as those who use and buy it."
