This is the only thing WhatsApp's Meta AI allows you to do.
Surprisingly, Meta's artificial intelligence integration into WhatsApp performs far better than I had anticipated. I've been testing it for several days, and although it started out as a simple curiosity, I now use it daily for useful tasks, entertainment, and even to organize plans with friends.
If you thought WhatsApp was just a messaging app, get ready, because the arrival of Meta AI has given it a major makeover. This new feature doesn't just answer questions; it also generates images, finds videos, recommends places, and even writes poems or funny excuses to get out of a tough situation. Here, I'll tell you everything I've tried, what works really well, and how you can use it, too.
This is how I use Meta AI in WhatsApp: fast, easy, and surprisingly useful.
When you activate Meta AI, you can talk to it as if it were just another contact. And if you're in a group, just type @MetaAI and it can respond to you publicly. It's served me well both for practical purposes and for moments of laughter. For example, the other day, while organizing a meal with friends, I asked it to recommend good restaurants with Wi-Fi and on a reasonable budget. It gave us three very good options, with links and everything. I also asked it about the weather in my city over the weekend... and it was absolutely right.
But it doesn't stop there: a friend asked him for a funny excuse for not going to the rally, and Meta AI told him a ridiculous story about aliens that had us crying with laughter.
- Most creative: pictures, GIFs, poems, trivia...
One of the most amazing aspects of it is its creativity. You can ask it to draw surreal things, create funny pictures, or write a birthday poem. I asked it to draw a penguin playing the guitar, and within seconds, it sent me an AI-generated image that turned out great. It then turned it into a GIF.
I've also tried asking him questions about group games, challenge ideas, and personality tests. If you have a WhatsApp group with colleagues, I can assure you this changes everything. Conversations fill up with new content in seconds, and no one has to Google it like we used to.
Additionally, since Meta also owns Instagram, you can ask it directly for videos: "Show me easy recipe videos" or "I want videos about trips to Japan." It will instantly send them to you, with links that open in the Instagram app. This is especially useful if you're bored and want to discover new content without leaving WhatsApp.
- Some limitations to take into account
Not everything is perfect, of course. Currently, Meta AI can't send or delete messages, make calls, or set real reminders within WhatsApp. It's also not a good idea for sharing personal or sensitive information, as its replies aren't end-to-end encrypted like the rest of your conversations. So, it's best used only for entertainment or casual purposes.
He also doesn't understand emotions or more complex nuances very well. For example, I asked him to help me comfort a friend who had lost his job... and the response was a bit cold.
