Goodbye Gemini ChatGPT can now connect to Google Drive to read your documents.
ChatGPT, OpenAI's artificial intelligence assistant, can now connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and more, allowing the AI to read documents stored by users on these platforms.
For example, you could give them access to a spreadsheet of your monthly expenses and ask, “What was your biggest month of spending, and what were the possible reasons for this extra spending?”
According to the company's statement, "ChatGPT will organize and clearly display the data (while respecting your organization's existing user-level permissions) in those documents, complete with citations."
The connection is compatible with Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, Google Drive, and OneDrive, and supports multiple file formats. For example, a user can extract information from a PowerPoint presentation to write a summary with the help of artificial intelligence. OpenAI notes that this feature is secure, and only authorized users will be able to access the documents.
In addition to connecting to Google Drive, ChatGPT will also integrate meeting recording and transcription so you don't have to use your phone's recorder. Once activated, the AI will capture audio and can create time notes or write a summary at the end. If you're assigned tasks during a meeting, the chatbot will follow up on them or store them in memory for later reference.
While OpenAI's announcements typically focus on features that will reach end users, the company is now focusing on enterprise customers. According to figures provided by OpenAI, ChatGPT already has 3 million paid users across the Enterprise, Team, and Edu plans. This represents a significant increase, considering they registered just under 2 million in February.
New meeting recording and Google Drive and Dropbox connectivity features are available today for ChatGPT Enterprise, Team, and Edu users. OpenAI has not revealed whether it plans to roll them out to Plus or free users.
