I've finally discovered a Facebook app that is incredibly light and ad-free. Without hesitation, download it now.
Are you sick of Facebook being slow, taking up half your phone, and constantly displaying advertisements? I agree. After attempting a thousand different options, I ultimately discovered Nobook, an app that perfectly captures the essence of what Facebook ought to be: incredibly fast, ad-free, and lightweight (just 1.5MB).
Even though it isn't available on the Google Play Store, I'll explain in this post why it has become my favorite Facebook client for Android, how to download it, and its benefits over the official app. It's similar to quitting Facebook without detoxing from Zuckerberg.
Nobook: A 1.5 MB open-source Facebook client without advertisements.
Nobook is the answer if you want to avoid Facebook's intrusive advertisements, pointless recommendations, and excessive resource usage. The sole purpose of this Android alternative app is to restore your control. Developed by "ycngmn," it is an open-source Facebook client that resembles a simplified, lighter version of Facebook Lite. Among its salient characteristics are:
Ads of all kinds are blocked, including "sponsored posts" that were not requested.
"Friends you may know" and "You might be interested" are no longer intrusive suggestions.
It is only 1.5 MB in size, as opposed to the official app's +100 MB.
- Take pictures and videos straight from the app.
No extraneous features or covert tracking.
Although Nobook isn't available on the Google Play Store because it's not an official Facebook app, we can guarantee that it's completely safe. Anyone can review all the app details by accessing the full code on GitHub. It is not concealing anything from you!
It should be noted that certain features of the official app, like Facebook Dating, are not available on the Nobook app. It does, however, have all of Facebook's fundamental and necessary features, including posts, stories, the marketplace, videos, and more.
The process of downloading and setting up Nobook on an Android device
The first and most crucial point is that Nobook isn't available on the Google Play Store because Meta doesn't want to compete fairly, for obvious reasons. However, it is simple and safe to install. Take these actions:
- Go to the official Nobook website on GitHub .
- Please check the latest version.
Click on the link that says Nobook_vX.XXapk.
The APK download will begin. Wait for it to finish, then tap the downloaded APK file to install it.
Click Install and wait a few seconds.
That's it! Now open it, log in with your Facebook account, and enjoy.
