This study reveals that we continue to use passwords that are extremely easy to hack

With the number of services available to us, including email and social media accounts, it can be very difficult to remember each login, which is why many users choose to either set very simple passwords or use the same password for all services.

Ultimately, this means that millions of people around the world are still using passwords that are incredibly easy to guess.

This is illustrated by a recent chart created by Visual Capitalist using data from NordPass, which essentially compiles the 25 most common passwords around the world.

According to aggregated data, the number "12345" was used more than 3 million times. It was followed by other expected combinations such as "123456," "password," and "qwerty," as well as variations of these with occasional numbers. Classic words such as "dragon," "monkey," "iloveyou," and "secret" were also frequently used.

Some also mix letters and numbers, but in patterns that are easy for cybercriminals and various automated tools to guess.

NordPass warns that these passwords can be cracked in less than a second using automated tools. Therefore, if your account falls into the hands of cybercriminals, it will be easy for them to access it if you use any of the passwords mentioned in this report.

Additionally, there are many passwords inspired by popular movie and video game series, which are very easy to crack quickly.

So the advice experts give you is to use some kind of password manager for extra security, choose passwords that are extremely difficult to guess, and most importantly, avoid using the same password for different services.
