Trump threatens to deport Elon Musk from the United States
The war of words between the two men has renewed, with the billionaire criticizing the new tax law passed by Trump in the Senate this week and Trump threatening to withdraw public support for his companies.
The US president indicated that his administration would "consider" deporting Elon Musk. The rift between Trump and the billionaire Tesla owner has been renewed after a short stint in the White House as a Republican Party advisor and right-hand man and after he contributed millions of dollars to his campaign.
The clash between the two men began in early June, when Musk criticized Trump's proposed tax cuts and the spending bill recently passed by the Senate, calling them "a disgusting abomination." Trump responded by threatening to attack Musk's companies; billionaire Elon Musk, in turn, called for the president's impeachment.
Musk criticized Republicans for supporting the bill, which now heads to Congress, where the ruling party holds a majority, describing it as "political suicide." The South African businessman renewed his threats to establish a new political party, the America Party, if the bill passes, which it did on Tuesday, narrowly defeating Vice President J.D. Vance.
Trump responded on social media, saying, "We will no longer allow rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production. Our country will be a fortune," the US president wrote on the Truth Social website. Trump added that without the support, "Musk might have had to give up and go home to South Africa."
