A Google Chrome extension that will help you avoid eye strain when browsing your computer
There are many Chrome extensions that help us improve our productivity when we're in front of the computer. But sometimes we forget to take a break from the screen.
To avoid these situations, we also have some add-ons that remind us to take a break and rest our eyes.
EyeCare is a Google Chrome extension that will remind you to take a break from the screen, and avoid eye strain by following the 20-20-20 rule.
According to this rule, you're expected to take a 20-second break every 20 minutes. During this time, look at anything within 20 feet of you.
By default, the extension is set to show reminders every 20 minutes, but you can adjust this to any time interval you see fit. When that time comes, you'll see the extension display a series of reminders with some suggestions.
For example, it will suggest you close your eyes for a moment, or move them vertically, circularly, and horizontally. If you want to follow the 20-20-20 rule, you'll have to look out the window for a few seconds, for example. Of course, it will also suggest you get up from your seat and move around during your break.
If you're only interested in screen-away reminders but don't want them to remind you to exercise, you can disable them without any problems. You'll see that the extension's settings section offers several options for customizing its dynamics.
And don't worry, it won't close any open browser tabs when the time comes, nor will it interrupt your browsing. The reminder will simply open. If you need to continue your task on your computer, you can ignore the reminder.
