Saudi Arabia launches Humain Chat, the first Arabic artificial intelligence app for Android and iPhone
Saudi Arabia has officially launched Humain Chat, the country's first Arabic-language AI application, marking a milestone in the Kingdom's ambition to become a global hub for AI innovation. The application, powered by the ALLAM 34B model, was built entirely in Saudi Arabia by Saudi talent and rolled out to users across the Kingdom.
Humain Chat is the flagship product of Humain, an AI company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in May 2025, Humain aims to develop large language models for Arabic and advance AI dominance in the Arab world.
The app is now available on iOS, Android, and web browsers, with plans to expand to other Arabic-speaking countries soon. According to Humain CEO Tarek Amin, the launch is a "milestone" for the Kingdom. He emphasized that Humain Chat reflects Saudi Arabia's mission to create AI that is not only technologically advanced but also culturally authentic.
The ALLAM 34B application is based on a state-of-the-art Arabic language model designed to serve the 350 million Arabic speakers worldwide. This model was developed by a team of over 120 AI specialists, including 35 PhD researchers in Saudi Arabia, and is trained on one of the largest Arabic language databases ever compiled. The model has undergone further development and refinement, drawing on contributions from over 600 experts in the field and 250 evaluators, ensuring unparalleled fluency and accuracy.
One of Humain Chat's unique strengths is its ability to understand multiple Arabic dialects, from Modern Standard Arabic to various regional dialects, while remaining fully compatible with Islamic, Middle Eastern, and cultural contexts. The model is also available in English, expanding its global reach.
Amin emphasized that this achievement demonstrates how globally competitive technologies can be rooted in local language, infrastructure, and values, developed by Saudi expertise. He emphasized that this is just the beginning of a transformative journey, as Humain Chat is expected to accelerate innovation and social progress across the Arab world.
