The PlayStation 6 and upcoming Xbox could be as powerful as a $3,000 PC

Rumors continue to swirl about the next generation of consoles, in the form of the new Xbox and PlayStation 6.

According to the latest reports, these devices could offer graphics performance on par with the latest high-end PC graphics cards, specifically AMD's Radeon 9070 XT and NVIDIA's RTX 5080.

This information indicates that both devices will use AMD's Zen 6 CPU architecture, as well as a new GPU based on the RDNA 5 architecture.

If so, they will make a significant leap in capabilities like ray tracing, path tracing, and neural mapping.

Among the innovations under development are technologies described in recent AMD patents, such as dense geometry and autonomous workgroup operation.

The PlayStation 6 is also claimed to double the PS5 Pro's evaporation performance, despite having fewer computing units and lower power consumption.

In any case, Sony is expected to announce the final specifications of the PlayStation 6 before the end of this year, and it is scheduled to launch in 2027 at the earliest, with the next Xbox arriving shortly before that.
