Your Android phone is hiding the trackpad. Find out how to do it.
The virtual keyboard is one of the most important features of your Android smartphone. It allows you to type text messages, create notes and to-do lists, compose emails, conduct web searches, and even edit documents using Google Docs. But what you may not know is that your mobile keyboard has a trackpad that will make editing texts and documents much easier.
So you can get the most out of your device's trackpad, we'll tell you how to activate and use this handy tool in the best keyboard app for Android: Gboard.
How to use the trackpad with Gboard
Gboard is the default keyboard app for the vast majority of Android phones and the trackpad is already enabled by default, so you don't have to do anything to enable it.
To use the trackpad with Gboard, just follow these simple steps:
- Open an editable text or document on your Android device.
- Enter edit mode
- Click on the text to display Gboard.
- Press and hold the space bar.
- Now swipe left or right to move the cursor around the document.
Gboard doesn't turn the entire keyboard into a trackpad, which means the cursor's range is limited and you can't move it around the paragraph as you please. This means you'll be able to move the cursor from left to right, but not up or down.
- Application: Gboard
