For this very reason, it's never a problem to be able to "defend" ourselves regarding the true authorship of an image. To do this, we looked at the Google Chrome extension: AI Image Detector. This handy extension helps us identify the origin of an image and quickly spot those trying to pass themselves off as genuine. And how does it do that? Well, that's why we created this article.
How does AI Image Detector work?
Thanks to its functionality, we can analyze any image we find while browsing the web. Thus, we will be able to distinguish between real images and those generated by artificial intelligence. But if we want to see how it actually works, let's explain the entire process.
The first thing this extension does with the referenced image is check if users have previously reported the image within AI Image Detector. If no one has noticed anything about it, the detector will automatically run a classification model to identify suspicious patterns. This model will use a technique based on Microsoft's Swin v2 technology and will display the result as a percentage. This percentage will be a rough estimate of the probability that the image was created using artificial intelligence.
This Swin v2 model is a technology trained on over 200,000 different images collected from social media and web browsers. All of these images were generated by artificial intelligence. Therefore, we can confirm that there is a solid foundation for detecting any type of pattern.
