Goodbye to the Google Weather app for Android... Now, everything will be searched for through the search engine.

Goodbye to the Google Weather app for Android... Now, everything will be searched for through the search engine.

Google plans to remove the standalone weather forecast feature from Android and integrate it directly into search results. This means that what has functioned for years as a weather app within the Google app may disappear as a separate feature.

Until now, users could access the weather via a shortcut on the home screen, identified by a cloud or sun icon followed by the letter "G". Tapping it would open a full screen with a special design, featuring the familiar animated frog displaying the current temperature, high and low temperatures, wind chill, and sky conditions.

Below that, hourly weather forecasts, and even ten-day forecasts, were displayed, along with cards containing data such as wind speed, humidity, UV index, atmospheric pressure, and other relevant information.

However, in recent months, many users who click on this shortcut are redirected directly to the search results page. This new page has been redesigned to include a frog icon that combines current weather conditions and hourly forecasts, along with a 10-day data bar and drop-down menus for precipitation, wind, humidity, and air quality.

In addition, Google integrates summaries generated by the Google AI Overviews service, which provides automated explanations of the current weather conditions.

Many users have already received a notification that the weather page has been moved, and they have lost the button that allowed them to access the previous full page.

The transition is not fully complete yet, but more and more devices are being moved to this new experience.
