Google has added an important feature to the Gboard app that will make you want to use it all the time

Have you ever tried to correct a letter by placing the cursor in the middle of a word, only to accidentally select the entire sentence? It is one of the most common issues we all face when using mobile phones. Well, it seems Google has found a solution inspired by the world of laptop keyboards for its Gboard keyboard.

This would be an additional feature added to a long list of useful functions that Google regularly updates in Gboard, such as support for physical keyboards on mobile devices or real-time spelling correction.

Renowned leaker AssembleDebug, in collaboration with Android Authority, has revealed that Google is working on developing a new "pointer mode" for its popular Gboard keyboard.

The idea is quite innovative: transforming the phone's keyboard into a touchpad, similar to those used on laptops. Screenshots published by the leaker show how this feature would allow a touchpad to occupy most of the space of the usual keys.

Activating this mode appears to be very easy to use. According to the code that was found, users can activate the cursor mode by holding down the space bar. Once activated, they can move their finger across the keyboard surface to move the cursor more precisely through the text, reaching the exact spot where they need to make edits.

Currently, this is still just a discovery in the early stages of development, and there's no official information on when this feature will reach users. Google has recently been busy integrating artificial intelligence into all its applications, but Gboard hasn't been completely forgotten.
