Samsung intends to eliminate Ray-Ban from Meta. Its smart glasses will have these incredible features

It's no secret that Samsung is working on AI-powered smart glasses as an alternative to Ray-Ban by Meta. The company has already confirmed it's in talks with brands to develop the device. While Samsung hasn't released further details yet, a new report from Google has revealed some of the features these smart glasses will include.

A report published by 9to5Google, a website that regularly reports on upcoming Google products, reveals documentation and details about the controls for the Android XR glasses, a Ray-Ban alternative that Samsung may release in the coming months. The document specifies that the glasses will require a dedicated camera button, a power button, and several touchpads, along with other necessary components for operation. Furthermore, each button will have different functions.

For example, the camera button on Samsung smart glasses will allow double-pressing to open the camera and single-pressing to take photos or videos. The glasses will also need LED lights to indicate that the camera is active.

On the other hand, the main touchpad on the AI glasses will allow users to control operation or summon the Gemini device with a long press. Samsung's glasses may also include a second touchpad for navigating on-screen content, if available.

The report also details the possibility of manufacturers developing two types of glasses. The first type is AI glasses, which include microphones, speakers, and a camera. The second type is AI glasses with a screen, which add a small panel to the lens to display augmented reality, in addition to speakers, microphones, and a camera.

Samsung is currently working on both types. Later this year, Samsung will launch its AI-powered smart glasses—those without a screen. The extended reality (XR) glasses, featuring a screen on the lenses, will be released later, in 2027.
