No more fees for cloud storage... This is how to make room on your phone for free.

Who among us hasn't faced the problem of running out of storage space on their phone? Most people fill their phones with huge amounts of photos, videos, documents, and apps, which strains their memory in the long run, as there's rarely enough space. In these cases, when the phone's storage is running low, some resort to deleting multimedia files, while others opt for a cloud storage service. But thanks to a new feature coming to Android, users will be able to create a local backup on their devices to easily free up storage space.

An analysis by Android Authority of the beta version v26.15.31 of Google Play Services revealed that this backup feature works automatically, allowing users to copy specific files from their phones to computers without needing to use cloud storage. It also works wirelessly, is free, and is included within the Quick Share feature.

In other words, this new Google feature allows users to automatically back up photos, videos, and audio files to their computers. This is due to the new automatic sync option and a "Back up now" button for manual transfers. Digital Trends adds that deleting a file from a phone does not delete its backup copy on a computer.

On the other hand, since it is integrated into Quick Share, it is very likely that users will use the same local transfer system, indicating that an internet connection is not required to perform the backup.

Regarding its availability, Android Authority's analysis reveals that Google hasn't officially launched this feature yet, and some aspects may change before its release. If activated, users will receive the new wireless backup feature for free.
