Samsung's change makes it easier than ever to connect your Galaxy phone to a Windows PC

Samsung's change makes it easier than ever to connect your Galaxy phone to a Windows PC.

You can now easily connect your Samsung Galaxy phone to any Windows 11 computer. The Korean company finally updated the Galaxy Connect app, which got rid of a restriction that had been widely criticized.

Galaxy Connect used to let Samsung phone users connect their phones to computers, but not all computers could use the software. It only worked with Samsung Galaxy Book laptops, which was probably done to keep users in Samsung's own ecosystem.

This is no longer the case, thank goodness. The latest update to the Galaxy Connect app now allows Samsung smartphones to connect to most Windows 11 PCs. This provides access to many useful tools, such as copying and pasting files between devices and browsing the internet across different platforms.

This means you can continue browsing web pages on your computer that you opened on your Galaxy phone. Note that to use this feature, you need to have Samsung Browser installed on Windows 11.

Other functions provided by the Galaxy Connect app include the ability to control a Samsung phone or tablet using the same keyboard and mouse used on a computer, as well as accessing files stored on the smartphone directly from the Windows 11 file explorer.

Finally, when using Galaxy Connect to link your Samsung device to Windows 11, you can use it as a secondary display for your computer. The usefulness of this feature may vary depending on the size of your phone or tablet.

Samsung's decision to limit the features of its Galaxy Connect app to Galaxy Book laptops has drawn widespread criticism. Clearly, the Asian company hasn't ignored this criticism, or perhaps it has realized that the app would gain wider adoption if it were available on virtually all Windows 11 devices.

To connect your Galaxy phone to any Microsoft computer, make sure you have Galaxy Connect version 2.1.6.0 installed. The app is available in the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 and can be installed for free. However, the app can only be installed on computers with x86 processors.

So, if you have a computer with an Intel or AMD processor, you're all set. However, if you bought a laptop running Windows 11 but using an ARM processor, such as the Snapdragon X2 Elite, you won't be able to use it. It's currently unknown whether Samsung plans to adapt the Galaxy Connect to this architecture.
