Apple ends support for iPhone XS Max

Apple has expanded its list of vintage and antique products by adding new versions of iPhones and smartwatches, as Apple has included the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 6S Plus in the list of “vintage” products on the company’s official website.

The iPhone XS Max was launched in September 2018 and went out of sale in September 2019 with the arrival of the iPhone 11 series. It was the successor to the iPhone X, featuring a notch screen design with Face ID, no Home button, and no fingerprint recognition.

According to Apple, its devices are classified as “vintage” when more than 5 years have passed since the company officially stopped selling them. The company and its authorized agents may provide repairs for old devices, but this depends on the availability of spare parts.

It's worth noting that the company has also added the iPhone 6s Plus to its list of obsolete devices with the iPhone XS Max, which it had been selling for longer, especially the 128GB version.

However, the company has not yet included the smaller versions, such as the iPhone XS and iPhone 6S, in the list of vintage devices yet.

In a related context, the company also included the Apple Watch Series 2 watches made of aluminum and stainless steel in the list of “obsolete” devices, which are devices that Apple stopped selling more than 7 years ago, and Apple has not yet added the ceramic version of that series to the list.

Owners of older devices can get service from Apple or its authorized dealers if parts are available. However, for older devices, Apple stops providing any service for them, and its dealers are not allowed to order spare parts, with the exception of MacBook computers, which may be eligible for battery repair and replacement up to 10 years.
