In April, a lot of games will stop functioning on Windows; updating to Windows 11 will fix this

Time is running out, and users are realizing that time is running out. 2025 is the right time to say “goodbye” to Windows 10, and before that happens, the changes will already be evident. For example, in April there will be a large number of games that will no longer be accessible from this operating system.

This kind of news, unfortunately for many people, will continue to be repeated throughout the current year 2025. Time is running out for Windows 10 users, and the latest bad news comes from Electronic Arts, one of the world's major entities in video games.

Now Electronic Arts has posted a new message asking users to update their operating system so they can use the EA app like thousands of people already do. More specifically, they confirm that Origin will be gone for good on April 17, 2025, because Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software. They add to this, in a very direct way, that if you don’t have a 64-bit PC, you’ll have to use a newer one.

Additionally, the companies behind popular games like Battlefield and FIFA, now known as EA Sports FC, have stated that if you’re still using Origin, you’ll have to upgrade to the EA app, which requires Windows 64-bit. However, remember that Windows 11 isn’t available in 32-bit, so users will find themselves in a tough spot to continue using their games once April arrives.

Although this decision was not made directly by Microsoft, the action taken by Electronic Arts is in line with Microsoft’s plans. The goal is to get more users to switch to Windows 11, since Origin will be the way to continue accessing games.

The good news is that all Origin account data, as well as any games each user owns, will be transferred to the EA app. So users who leave Windows 10 and move to Windows 11 will already have access to the EA app.
