You can quickly create a duplicate of your house keys with this free app

Surely more than once you have forgotten your keys inside your home and had to enter through a window or call a locksmith service, with the cost involved, to be able to enter your home.

This has also happened to me, and for this reason, today I would like to share with you a free application called KeyDecoder, thanks to which you will be able to clone your keys to always have them available on your Android mobile phone.

KeyDecoder is a free and open source application, the code of which is published on GitHub, developed by two French engineers, Maxime and Quentin Beasse, who created it in collaboration with FrenchKey and CNS of ESIEA, a French digital security laboratory.

This app allows you to get the exact measurements of a key by taking a picture of it with your mobile phone from a close distance. You will need to place the key flat off the keychain on a credit card or business card that has the following dimensions: 85.60 x 53.98 mm.

Once you have the key placed on a card of those dimensions, all you have to do is open the app, focus the key with your camera until it is nicely centered, and align the marks that appear in the app with the borders of the card.

By doing this, you will get a file containing all the necessary data, such as measurements and distances, so that you can create a duplicate copy of your key at any locksmith shop.

In addition, KeyDecoder also protects your privacy, as all the information it collects about your keys is stored only on your device and is never shared on the Internet.

KeyDecoder is a completely free application, without ads or in-app purchases, which you can download from the direct link to the Google Play Store that we leave you below.
