arrested for Real Betis hacking. A fan hacks the club to skip the line to get a seat

A cybercriminal has managed to access the Real Betis database for his own benefit to obtain a seat at Benito Villamarín, thus compromising the database containing the information of almost 11,000 members.

What this cybercriminal basically wanted was to advance the queue for a participant's spot and be able to get a seat at the Benito Villamarin Stadium.

The cybercriminal, who has already been arrested by authorities, has a degree in computer science, so he had enough knowledge to know what he was doing.

This computer attack occurred last summer, specifically in July, when the club learned of the attack and filed a complaint with the authorities.

According to reports from El Español, the detainee was indeed a member of the Ana Betic movement but was not entitled to a seat in the stadium.

He was able to access a database containing the identification data of 10,911 members and then impersonated one of them.

He even changed the other person's email so that he would not receive any kind of notification about the change, although the other affected person realized it and informed Real Betis.

According to them, the cybercriminal also eliminated other registered accomplices in the operation.

Real Betis commented that this security incident was detected from the first moment and corrected in a timely manner.
