Leica Introduces a Luxurious Camera Grip for iPhone to Improve the Experience of Photography
The camera and lens manufacturer Leica has unveiled the Leica Lux Grip, a new iPhone accessory that aims to replicate the professional camera experience when shooting with the Leica Lux app on iPhones.
With programmable function buttons, a two-stage shutter button for focus and shooting control, and a quick control dial for simple setting adjustments, the grip has a design reminiscent of professional DSLR camera grips.
Leica stores and some specialty shops now sell the Lux Grip for $330. The company also sells a high-end leather case for the grip for $60.
Despite having a black aluminum body, the handle does not have the company's recognizable red emblem. It connects to phones via MagSafe technology, supports shooting in both portrait and landscape modes, and is compatible with iPhone 12 and later.
Specifically made for the Leica Lux app, which simulates the company's lenses and professional camera shooting experience, the handle operates via Bluetooth.
It is worth noting that the application is free, but it requires a subscription of $7 per month or $70 per year to take advantage of all the features, and buyers of the Lux Grip handle get a free subscription for one year.
The grip includes a 300mAh battery that is enough to take 1,000 photos and can be recharged via a USB-C port in two hours. The grip does not provide the ability to charge the phone, unlike other similar products.
