Three features on your phone that cause the battery to drain without you realizing it

The truth is that there are things in our daily lives that can cause our mobile phones' batteries to drain quickly, even though we frequently blame the apps we use or acknowledge that updates can cause this.

This is the reason why a lot of people who recently purchased a new cell phone complain that, despite the device's high autonomy, the battery does not last as long as promised or that it struggles to get to the end of the day. There are many things that can cause the battery to drain at the speed of the moon, but there are some things that may be present on your phone that can drain it quickly without you realizing it.

Although you can optimize your battery consumption and even see which apps are consuming the most power on your phone, we recommend that you pay attention to these three options on your phone if you want your battery to last much longer and not even need to charge it multiple times a day.

- High brightness on the screen

One of the reasons your phone’s battery might be draining quickly is if you set the screen brightness to a very high level. In fact, you’ll notice this if you change the settings. While some recommend leaving the brightness on automatically so that it adjusts to each moment without you having to do so, thus not consuming too much battery at certain times, there are those who prefer to leave the brightness fixed at lower levels. Lowering the brightness level as much as possible while still being able to see the screen properly is the ideal option.

The lower the brightness, the lower the consumption because this is one of the mobile options that consumes the most battery. If you do not want to complicate things, the best option is automatic brightness; otherwise, you can change it yourself when you need to, keeping the brightness as low as possible. Everything related to the screen also consumes a lot of energy, such as very colorful or animated wallpapers, the best of which are black and white on AMOLED screens.

 - WiFi and mobile data are always connected

Any type of connection can affect your battery, and although we mentioned internet connections, if you turn off GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and others when you don't need them, you will notice that your battery lasts longer. We mention these options because they are the most consuming on a mobile phone, and we activate them almost always. The ideal situation is to put them on whenever we want, although we use our mobile phones so much every day that this has become less and less applicable.

That's why we recommend turning off Wi-Fi when you leave the house so that your phone doesn't spend all its time searching for networks, which drains the battery faster, and worse, it may end up connecting to a malicious network. You can also disable data networks when you don't intend to use them, and if you're going to an area where there is no 5G coverage, we recommend disabling this option so that your mobile phone's battery lasts longer. You can't even imagine how much data your phone consumes while constantly searching for networks that it can't reach. You can also put it in sleep mode at night or when you want to relax.

- Background applications

Another option that consumes most of your phone’s battery is apps running in the background, as they are there and consume power even if you are not using them. Especially those that send many notifications frequently or have high power consumption. It is best to avoid running apps in the background as much as possible.

You can go to this option from the left button on the screen and remove them repeatedly or prevent certain applications from staying in the background directly. Even if you don't give it much importance, if you don't have applications running in the background, your phone's battery will last much longer.
