With Google Chrome, downloading APK apps from sources other than Google Play is no longer a concern. Google will protect us

Little by little, browsers like Google Chrome are making leaps in the field of security. One example is that even the apps that you download to your mobile phone via the browser can be controlled from the potential risks of downloading APK apps from a place unknown to Google. This will also provide users with some protection when trying to download apps from unofficial sites.

Google already assumes that it can’t afford to be left in the lurch and that users who want to download apps from outside the Google Play Store will continue to do so, and they need to be protected in this regard to avoid bigger problems. That’s why Google is already testing a warning system within Google Chrome that will alert you when it detects potential malware in an APK file you’re downloading. This will make mobile phones much safer, even when downloading apps from unofficial sites.

In fact, this warning can be found directly in Chromium, where it will automatically scan the downloaded APK file for any potentially dangerous files, alerting the user if there is a real risk.

This feature is currently being tested in Canary builds, but if the performance of this feature satisfies all parties, it will only be a matter of time before this tool is enabled for the final version of Google Chrome.

Despite the sense of security that any environment can provide, the reality is that there is no such thing as 100% security, so it is important to always have a basic knowledge of cybersecurity that every user can apply to themselves to reduce the risks of their actions on the network.
