How to create a recycle bin on external storage devices such as flash memory and SD cards to recover files after deleting them

On a computer, it is commonly believed that the Recycle Bin is a program or tool placed in Windows; however, it is nothing but a folder that contains very special criteria that differ from the rest of the regular folders. Whatever it is, we know that the recycle bin is where the content you want to delete goes before completing the deletion process, but what if you are using a flash memory or SD card? You will need a folder in order to delete the files inside it, and in this post we will learn how to add the recycle bin to those places.

How to create a recycle bin on external storage devices such as flash memory and SD Card to recover files after deleting them

First, you will go to the computer registry by pressing Win+R, and from run you will type regedit and press OK.

Now, you will navigate to the following path in the Registry Editor window:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

What you will do next is right-click on any empty space inside the Explorer folder, choose New, then DWORD (32-bit) Value, and finally name it RecycleBinDrives.

Now you will double-click on the new value you created. In the value field, you will type ffffffff. You will select the hexadecimal option at Base and you will save by clicking OK.

What you will do now is restart your computer, and what the computer specifically does is create a $RECYCLE.BIN file, which is usually hidden and where all the files you delete are saved before they are permanently deleted.

In some cases, you will find that the file does not appear. To make it appear, go to File Explorer, then click on the "File" section at the top, then Change folder and search options. From Folder Options, go to View, then click on Show hidden files. Now what you need to do is remove the check mark next to "Hide protected operation system files" and click OK to confirm. The Recycle.Bin$ folder will appear on the flash drive and you will barely be able to access it and you will find your deleted files inside it.
