The Gemini update is coming to Google Calendar. Here's Everything It Can Do Now Thanks to AI
We are seeing more and more traditional apps with AI-powered functionality, and after Gemini made its way to some popular services like Gmail, the next one to embrace it is Google Calendar.
Google Calendar is one of those apps where you'd think AI couldn't possibly exist, but Google has found it and is actually integrating Gemini's various functions into it.
Google is currently testing the Gemini integration through its Workspace Labs program, so it's rolling out to a select group of users at this time.
What changes in Google Calendar with this integration is the new Gemini sidebar in Google Calendar.
This appears as a shiny new Gemini button located to the side of the Google Calendar task switcher in the web UI.
When enabled, the Gemini sidebar will appear on the right side of the screen with the relevant message field and some suggestions.
From there, you can ask the AI about your daily schedule, when your next meeting is, or how many appointments you have that day.
Best of all, AI can help you create one-time or recurring events, so you can manage everything faster.
This may also have other functions in the future, such as the ability to create emails requesting an appointment rescheduling or summarizing some interesting statistics about recent Google Calendar events.
Gemini's integration with Google Calendar is currently in testing, and it remains to be seen when it will be available to all users in the near future.
