Windows 11 Paint gets an update: New Copilot button with built-in AI

A generative eraser and the ability to effortlessly remove backgrounds are just two of the AI-powered features that have been added to the Paint app in Windows 11 in recent months.

The new Copilot button, which you will notice prominently, is the most recent change in Paint. You should be aware of its exact function.

As Windows Latest reported, updating Paint to the latest version adds a new shortcut to the Copilot button, replacing the image creator.

Clicking this new Copilot button reveals the Image Creator, Generative Erase, Background Removal, and Co-Creator options.

On the one hand, Image Creator lets you do just that, creating images using generative AI.

Simply describe the image you want to create in the text box that appears on the right side of the Paint app. You can also select a style, and when you click "Create," you'll have three different variations of the image.

For the other option, Generative Erase, you simply select the area you want to erase, hit Apply, and the AI will take care of the rest.

As for the background removal option, it allows us to remove the background from the images and save the file in PNG format.

The fourth option, Co-Creator, is not available for Intel or AMD computers because it requires a processor with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Essentially, this option transforms your drawings into professional works of art.

It's worth noting that these options already existed, but what's being added to Paint is the Copilot button, which you likely already have if you've updated to the latest version of Windows 11.
