In a few months, Samsung's new home robot will be available for purchase. It does this
Samsung shocked us at CES 2024 with Ballie, a highly capable home robot. The oddball spherical device will be the ideal housemate. Samsung has now confirmed when Ballie will be available, and there is more exciting news: the robot will support Google's Gemini.
"Samsung Electronics and Google Cloud today announced an expanded collaboration to integrate Google Cloud's generative AI technology into Ballie, Samsung's new AI-powered robot," the press release explains. In order to assist users with managing their homes, including lighting adjustments, door-to-door greetings, schedule customization, reminders, and more, Ballie will be accessible to customers this summer.
"By combining Gemini's powerful multimodal reasoning with Samsung's AI capabilities in Ballie, we are harnessing the power of open collaboration to usher in a new era of personalized AI: one that adapts to users, anticipates their needs, and interacts in more dynamic and meaningful ways than ever before," Samsung said in reference to the integration of Gemini into Ballie.
For instance, it will be able to comprehend a wide range of inputs, including visual data from your camera, audio and video, and sensor data from your surroundings. It will be able to adjust to the actual environment as a result. Are you unsure of what to wear to work? Consult this household robot for guidance. It can also be questioned about domestic and medical issues.
If you tell Ballie, for instance, that you have been feeling lethargic lately, it will provide you with tailored guidance on how to increase your energy levels, along with suggestions from reliable sources. That sounds good, does not it?
We will have to wait a little while longer for Samsung's home robot to reach our nations, though, as the company has confirmed that Ballie will debut in the US and Korea this summer.
