With Windows 11, extracting text from an image has never been simpler. This is how

We have witnessed the tremendously beneficial features that Windows 11 has brought to our everyday lives over time. One of the areas of the system that has benefited most from the arrival of this new version of Windows is the Snipping Tool. Among its features, in addition to the ability to take screenshots and record video, we can also extract text from an image by taking a screenshot.

However, in recent months, Microsoft has further improved this feature. The Snipping Tool now also allows you to extract text from a specific area of the screen without taking screenshots, a feature powered by artificial intelligence. We'll explain all the details below.

As mentioned earlier, users needed to take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool or open an image in the Photos app to access the text extraction option. Ultimately, the process took several steps and wasn't instantaneous, so there was still room for improvement.

The text extraction function is now integrated directly into the Snipping Tool toolbar, along with other options like video recording and screen area selection, allowing you to extract text directly without having to take a screenshot first.

The good news is that this feature is now available to the stable channel for Windows 11 24H2 users, so if you don't have this feature yet, you'll have to wait a while for it to appear in the Clippings app.

When the user presses the Windows key combination + Shift + S (the usual shortcut for taking screenshots), the "Extract Text" button will appear on the toolbar. When this option is selected, the system will automatically detect all visible text on the screen, allowing the user to manually select the portions they wish to copy.

But extracting text has become easier. We can also access this function through the Windows command + Shift + T. This way, instead of going to the menu to capture the screen, the system will automatically search for text on the screen that we can copy. Additionally, the tool includes additional options such as generating QR codes for quick access to text from mobile devices, whether Android or iPhone.
