There is a new competitor to WeTransfer... You can transfer files for free up to 3GB on this new site.
One of the founders of WeTransfer created Boomerang , a new file-sharing platform that aims to restore the original philosophy of these services: sending files quickly and directly, without intermediary steps or verification processes. According to Nalden, its creator, this has been lost over time in similar platforms.
As The Verge explained , this site presents itself as an alternative for file sharing without requiring account creation or login, through an online service, with a Mac app coming soon. Its key feature is its focus on privacy.
The company assures users that files are automatically deleted upon expiration, that shared content is not analyzed, and that no data is collected to create behavioral profiles. Furthermore, the information will not be sold to third parties, no advertisements will be displayed, and the files will not be used to train artificial intelligence models.
These are the different packages they will offer:
For users who do not log in:
- Up to 1GB of free storage space
- Ability to send files up to 1 GB in size (available for seven days before being automatically deleted)
For users creating an account:
- Up to 3GB of free storage space
- Ability to upload files up to 3 GB in size (available for seven days before being automatically deleted)
Features such as download history, the ability to add or delete files at any time, and simple customization options.
