You should install WhatsApp's new app right away. The CarPlay version is a game-changer.
WhatsApp has finally released a very important feature for drivers after years of waiting and weeks of testing. The messaging app from Meta is now available on CarPlay, which is Apple's platform for cars. This is an enhanced version of the existing compatibility with some significant changes.
We reiterate that WhatsApp has been compatible with CarPlay for years. In fact, Apple platform users could see a dedicated icon in their car's interface, but this compatibility was very limited. The WhatsApp icon in CarPlay did not provide access to the app itself, but rather an interface for listening to unread notifications or sending messages by voice.
Now, with the new WhatsApp app for CarPlay, a more comprehensive and personalized interface is available. However, it's less comprehensive than the regular WhatsApp app, as it's optimized to minimize distractions while driving. Nevertheless, it includes more features than previous versions.
The new WhatsApp app for CarPlay is divided into three tabs. The first, "Chats," displays unread messages and a list of recent conversations from the iPhone app. Within this tab, you can access each conversation and listen to the latest message, but you cannot type or read messages.
There's also a second tab, "Calls," which displays a list of recent calls and a shortcut to request a call from a contact via Siri. Finally, WhatsApp includes a "Favorites" section in the CarPlay app, which displays the contacts you've added to your favorites.
The WhatsApp app for CarPlay is now available to all users. Since it's a modified version of the iPhone app, you simply need to install the latest update. To do this, go to the App Store, tap your account icon on the screen, and then tap "Updates." Finally, check for an available WhatsApp update and tap the "Update" button.
