Bid farewell to hazy text in Google Chrome and Edge. This new feature will make reading websites easier and protect your eyes

Many of us spend a huge number of hours a day working with the text provided by current web browsers such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. Sometimes this can be harmful to our eyesight if we do not configure the programs we mentioned correctly.

These browsers usually provide us with some customizable functions to adapt the display of the content to our needs. In this way we can modify the fonts, their size, and other very useful sections. But the truth is that sometimes we find that the texts on the sites we visit are a bit unclear.

This means that we have to strain our eyes to read this content, which is not beneficial in the long run at all. So, now we will talk about a new integrated feature that will help us improve the appearance of these texts in Edge and Chrome browsers.

Specifically, this feature we are referring to was launched by Microsoft to improve text contrast in all Chromium-based browsers on Windows. We have to take into account that the contrast ratio between text and its background is currently very important to ensure comfort and reduce visual fatigue for users.

In the specific case of Chrome, improved text contrast has been available on Windows since version 132 of the web browser itself. Now Microsoft is extending these contrast improvements and gamma correction to the browsers of the open-source Chromium project. In this way, the quality and clarity of the text displayed on the websites we visit are becoming more noticeable when we visit them and use Windows.

It is worth noting that in Windows we have many functions that we can adapt and customize to control how text is represented on our computers. To do this, you can use the ClearType text function to test and configure different contrast and gamma values.

Now, with the aforementioned text contrast improvements to the Chromium project, ClearType text is also being implemented on browsers like Edge and Google Chrome by default. The goal of all this is to protect users’ eyesight while working with the browsers we mentioned.

This is something that many will certainly appreciate in the long run, especially considering that we spend an increasing number of hours visiting websites. Moreover, in most cases, we are dealing with texts that should be as readable as possible.
