How to Install Android 16 on a Computer

Google has just released the first beta of Android 16, and you can now try it out on your mobile phone or PC. However, it’s currently only available for Google phones (although phones from other brands are likely to be added in the coming weeks).

Below we will explain if you do not have a Pixel phone how to try Android 16 Beta on any computer.

You can try Android 16 on your computer (whether Windows, Linux, or Mac) thanks to Android Studio. This is an official Android tool that lets you (among other things) emulate an Android phone on your computer quickly and easily.

First, download, install, and configure Android Studio on your computer, then follow the steps below to emulate Android 16 on your computer:

Open Android Studio on your computer.

-- Now click on “More Actions” and enter into “Virtual Device Manager.”.

Here you need to press the (+) button to create a virtual Android device.

Now, choose the Pixel phone that is compatible with Android 16 Beta.

Then click next.

The next step is to choose the ISO that will be installed on the virtual machine. In this case, you should download the latest version of Baklava. This is the codename for Android 16.

When the download is complete, click the "Finish" button.

Select Baklava (the ISO file you just downloaded) and then click Next.

In this step, you can add a name for the Android 16 virtual device you intend to create. Once done, tap on “Finish” to complete the process.

Finally, you will have a virtual machine that will emulate Android 16 on your PC. To start the emulation, press the Play button (▶️), and that’s it. Doing so will boot your Android 16 phone on your PC.
