Apple's first foldable iPhone will cost $2,500

Apple is expected to soon unveil what will be its first foldable iPhone, a device that fans of the brand have been waiting for for years, and one that will finally allow Apple to enter a market that has resisted it until now.

Now, according to a research note to Barclays investors, analyst Tim Long notes that the first foldable iPhone could be very expensive, estimating it to be priced at at least $2,500 in the US.

Previously, Ming Chi-Kuo suggested that the foldable iPhone could cost around $2,000, which would be roughly double the cost of the current iPhone 16.

Given the global pricing of these devices, Apple's hypothetical foldable iPhone could be priced at around $2,500 upon launch.

If you think these are just estimates, it's worth clarifying that analyst Tim Long recently traveled to Asia and actually had the opportunity to meet with component manufacturers, so he can't be too far off the price point.

On the other hand, according to data he was also able to identify during his trip, he estimates that the foldable iPhone will be launched between 2026 and 2027.

The price will have a direct impact on sales volume, and Apple is well aware of this, given that it does not expect large sales of the device.
