Google is finally giving up and updating Chrome with one of the most popular features
A feature that many users will find useful is the complete redesign of tabs in the most recent beta version of Chrome. It's optional, so don't worry.
The majority of browsers mimic one another, but up until now, Google has refused to include one feature in Chrome. The vertical tabs feature has finally been released in the Canary (beta) version of the well-known browser.
For years, Microsoft Edge and Firefox, as well as lesser-known browsers like Vivaldi and Brave, have provided this option. Google eventually responded to numerous user requests. There are now vertical tabs.
It was found by Windows Report and is fully functional, so in a few weeks it might be included in the final version of Chrome.
This is how Chrome's vertical tabs function.
Since this feature works better on wide (horizontal) screens than portrait screens, it will initially only be accessible on the desktop version. But when you hold the phone horizontally, nothing stops it from activating automatically. The PC version is currently the only one with this feature.
Right-click the tab bar and select Show Tabs on Side to view tabs vertically.
On the left side of the screen, the horizontal bar will transform into a vertical column of tabs. This is where you can view it:
There are buttons around the column that allow you to do various things next to the same tabs.
The Find Tabs button is visible at the top of the screenshot. At the bottom are tab groups and a "More" button for new tabs.
There is a control to expand and collapse tabs at the top of the sidebar.
Just right-click an empty space in the vertical column and choose the Show tabs option at the top to go back to the traditional horizontal tab bar view.
Although many users, particularly those with ultra-wide screens, prefer to open tabs vertically, I still prefer to open them horizontally.
After years of development, the Chrome Canary version now offers vertical tabs. And it will definitely arrive in the final version of Chrome soon.
